Goal before Birthday!

I have set a mini-goal for myself to lose 21 lbs before my birthday which just happens to fall on a Sat. (which is weigh in day for anyone that knows I’m on WW). That includes this week which I have done pretty well so far by hitting the gym at least a couple of times per day. As long as I can restrain myself on the weekends, I should do pretty well in achieving that goal. It will not be easy, but nothing worth achieving is easy. It will force me to keep on my toes.

That will put me well on my way towards reaching a very nice level before this summer. I am looking forward to moving into smaller clothes in the near future. My jeans are already in need of a belt in just my past 2 weeks efforts.

Today, I took my first Step Aerobic class during lunch. I was able to make it all the way through without having to march in place but I am pretty sure my glutes, hammies, and calves are going to be super sore for the next day or so. I have been doing a lot of elliptical machine for quite a while now but I have not had to sweat so much like this class.

I will be getting a new garage door on Monday. Since we have the day off, it will work out fine. I will have to take some pictures of the guy changing it. He seemed to have the best price around (www.denvergaragedoctor.com). It will be nice to have a door that isn’t falling apart and that isn’t a one piece that swings out so I can get two cars in the driveway without hanging the second into the sidewalk area.

I won 4th place overall in my Fantasy Football money league out of quite a few people (like 70 or so).  Not to bad for keeping Shaun Alexander on my team 5 weeks too long.  Should have traded for L.J. sooner but you never know.  The week before I also placed 2nd to win some cash that way too.  Bad news is that had I not finished second, I probably would have got the hard luck prize for most points without placing in the top 3 on any week.  That would have netted me more money than the 2nd and 4th overall payouts.

I also won 50 bucks on a scratch off ticket which I rarely ever buy so that was pretty cool.

Holidays went well.  Got some more Nebraska stuff; Big shocker there.

I also have a cat now.  Her name is Tippy.  Once I get some pix of her, I will put them up here for anyone to see.

Good Weekend!

The Husker Volleyball team won the National Championship this past weekend. They defeated the Stanford Cardinals 3-1 at the Qwest Center in Omaha where the Final Four was held for this year’s tourney. Nebraska is only the second team to go wire-to-wire as #1. They could have done so last year but they were defeated in the final by Washington.

Also, I am in first place going into Monday Night Football in Paul Ossip’s pool. I hope to win but chances are I will get passed up by somebody.

Movie review – V for Vendetta

Rating – Craptastic

Comments: They should have called it V for Vile. The only part that was any good at all was when they had Natalie Portman when she visits the Bishop in her pig tails and Hee Haw outfit. That was not too shabby for an actress who is way out there like Alec Baldwin.

I would put a picture up here but I couldn’t find one out on the web. Do yourself a favor and don’t bother putting this crapfest in your Netflix queue.

I am the proud father of a brand new BLACK baby portable gaming device! I could have worded that better but I ain’t never been no good at that English.

Actually, I recently purchased a Nintendo DS Lite (Onyx). Which is another way of saying it is black in color. It is pretty cool and it plays the much cheaper Game Boy Advance games too. I like it, and the battery seems to last quite awhile. Of course I had to buy some screen protectors so that the touch screen doesn’t get scratched. It is kinda neat how they incorporate the dual screen for the DS games (the GBA games don’t utilize the second screen) but some it doesn’t really matter that it is there.

My favorite game so far on it is the New Super Mario Bros.

It is addicting. I want to solve it before getting the strategy guide. After that, I got some other games to take up my time like Mario Kart DS and Princess Peach DS which is like Mario Bros. but with Peach as the main character.

Well, I got to work now, no time for games right now.

I have been really busy with a couple of different things.  Work being the biggest one of them.  The other is the watch party that I volunteer as the coordinator at Fox & Hounds (the Arapahoe location in Denver) for Nebraska televised games.  As it turns out, only one of Nebraska’s first nine games was not on T.V.  That makes for a lot of busy Sat’s for yours truly.

It is kinda fun cuz I have a reason to go around and talk to people where as otherwise, I tend to keep to myself.  But I will probably not do it next year.  It takes up too much time on Sat. and I don’t get as much done around the house as I would like and definitely not as much as I should.  It also makes the weekend go by to fast.

I had a pretty good Halloween.  Had 39 kids stop by the house and I didn’t run out of candy so that was good.  I bought clearance candy yesterday from Wal-Mart to stock up my supply that I put out at work for people to come by my cube.  I don’t eat it myself so that is ok for the old WW.

Well, I got some debugging to do here at work so I will catch you on the flip side.

Last thing, Tink and Mrs. E………The Tigers are going down!  I hope.

Ahhhhhh, it's Friday! One of the better days of the week. I am back on the WW wagon full swing this week. I have been kicking tail in the gym all week working out most days morning, noon, and night. Have been going back to WW for about a month now but haven't really got into hitting the gym real hard since late spring/early summer. Hold on a minute...........................Had to pat myself on the back so I couldn't very well keep typing now could I?

Tomorrow is another Nebraska watch party at Fox & Hound at the Denver Arapahoe location. I am looking forward to it more than any other one I have attended. Will have to let you know how it goes!!!

Tink got a different job so that is kinda a bummer. I say kinda cuz now I won't be able to RTC him anytime I want. I guess I will have to figure out what my yahoo messenger account is and contact him that way.

The good news is that he probably won't have to travel as much so the gang could probably get together during the week more often and do a lunch or something!

I can't believe how many people whine about out of conference schedules of the bigger College football teams. Being a Nebraska fan living in Colorado, I hear it every year and the people try to get into an argument/debate about it. I just say it is all about getting more home games and that is the bottom line. Not to mention most all of the big programs do it, and for the same reason. It is not to get a sure win, just ask Colorado about that one. It is because the big schools can make a butt load more money having a team come in for one year and giving them more than they can make in a whole season without the big school having to go to the other school's field the next year where they rarely have a sellout and only seat maybe 20 or 30 thousand people anyway.

Not to mention, I have no control over it so are you just trying to make me feel bad or do you not like me so you want me to feel like my team is pathetic? Sorry, it ain't going to happen. I bleed Husker Red. It is just a different personality type or maybe it is how you are raised. I don't even really pay attention to whom other teams play. Even for the teams I don't really care for. If Miami is playing Little Brothers Of The Poor, I don't even care let alone make it a point to tell any Miami fan I know that their team's out of conference schedule is pathetic. Who cares!

If the big teams only played the big teams, the smaller schools or the up and coming schools would never be able to pull the "upset" and get respect. We would then be in the preverbial situation of schools going undefeated but never playing a top 25 (or top 50) team and then complain that they didn't get a chance to play for the National Championship.

That is just the way things go so tough cookies Husker/Randy bashers.

Good and Bad

To sum up my week, it has been good and bad.

First, Nebraska won the first game of the season. Bad, we didn't win powerball. Next, I took the vert in to get fixed. Bad, it took 6 days to get the car back and it cost me almost $400 to fix. Good, the Huskers won on Saturday in convincing fashion. Bad, I drove the vert on Saturday of the Husker victory and someone backed into my car causing, as yet to be determined, amount of damage.

Some time has passed and if anyone cares, I am doing well.

This post is mostly for a friend who may or may not read this. For him, it will be bitter sweet. I just got done watching James Blake lose in the US open to Roger Federucker and decided to take my US pride out on some Nintendo NCAA 2005 dynasty mode opponents.

I am currently in like 2023 (since Nintendo quit putting out the new ones for GameCube but for others are up to 2007 now, no bitterness here). Anywho, my 8-0 record just met up with the 4-2 Jayhawks of Kansas and I kinda kicked some bird ass. I beat them 62-0. Also, my Heisman leading runner scored 8, yeah I said it, want to make something of it, 8 TD's (which, according to the game, set an all time NCAA record; Actually, it said that after the 6th TD but I poured it on). He also rushed for 240 yards. I also passed for 250 yards. This might seem trivial to you but I am playing 5 min. quarters rather than the full lenght games. And if that doesn't mean anything to you, my average overall all these years is right around 310 yards of total offense. To top that off, I have not lost a National Championship in all the simulated years.

To be honest, I have quit 2, yes 2 games because I was losing. I always play to the last moment hoping that I can pull it out in the end. And for over 200+ games, I do except for those two, but I replayed the games and won. But wouldn't any coach do the same if they had the ability. My brother who hooked me on the game (but on PS2) quits as soon as he is losing. I wait till the very last minute and 99% of the time, find a way to win.

Husker Time Is Here Again

I know it has been awhile since I have posted, so I promise to do much more of it in the future. First, I have gotten back on the wagon and have attended my WW meetings. This past Saturday, I lost 8.2 lbs. Although that is great, I am still up from my couple of months where I slacked off. I never got below 100 lbs lost (not even close) however I am a little down on myself for not keeping it up knowing how much closer to goal I could have been. With that said, I am proud of myself for getting back in the groove.

On to other things I suppose. My brother has moved to another job after the home interiors (home decorations plant) that he worked at for many years closed. He is now working at an ethanol plant. I hope that goes well for him or that he finds something better since I don't know if ethanol is the future of our fuel hungry country. At least he has a job with good benefits. I just hope that one of the family (we all do it) wins Powerball.

I know my blog is checked by friends so I just want to put this out there. I miss seeing Tink and Mrs. E since Tink has become a consultant. He is gone all week to the East coast and leaves mid day on Sundays. That doesn't give him much time to spend with his fairly new bride (Mrs. E) on the weekends and I am sure they enjoy spending as much time together as possible.

Damn PeopleSoft! Damn Oracle! And for that matter Damn JDEdwards for selling out first!

Ah, classic rap. 50 pennies and Urine Father could learn a few things from that stuff. Well, I am at work and about ready to leave to participate in Tink and Ms. E's wedding rehearsal. Gonna be a hot day so that is not gonna be fun but I get to leave work a few hours early so it is a fair trade. I have to go home and load up a few essentials. Also need to go and get a pair of shorts. Hopefully, there will be lots of Tang at the rehearsal and wedding so I can quench my thirst. Like I said, it is gonna be hot and I likes my Tang.

Been a long time

It has been a long time but I am doing fine, don't worry yourself. I am currently trying to do my year end self review. I could just say that I am awesome but that wouldn't fly. You got to micro-analyze everything. Sux! Well, good news is I only have today and tomorrow and then I am on vacation. Parents are coming out so that is cool. Other than it is super hot out here in Denver. Hope to go to a Rockies game and see Dan Johnson who played for the Huskers.

Good to hear that you had a nice weekend. I went back to Nebraska on Sat. early morning. Had the Mendyk annual gathering in Loup City that I haven't been to in at lest 2 years, maybe three (hard to remember). Was an ok time. Loved to see everyone but it was so darn hot!!!! 98 on Sat. and 99 on Sun. Boy, I thought it was hot here before going back there and I got taught a lesson in comparisons. Not only was it hot, but the wind blew morning, noon, and night! Good gracious, it was like 15-20 mph with gusts of 30 all weekend.
I drove back yesterday with a chest of drawers and an old fashioned (1 leaf) table with fold down sides in tow. It also came with 4 chairs..... All folded down and without the leaf in, the table takes up less room than my table I have had since moving to CO (which Mom & Dad got for me when a roller rink went out of business in GI). Gonna try and sell that thing at a friend at work's garage sale this weekend.
Think Mom & Dad are coming out sometime in June. Will have to see how things go but if they do come out, will have to let you know for sure and maybe we can drop by some evening. As long as you are around and aren't busy of course.
Huskers are in the NCCA baseball tourney as the #6 seed and are hosting a regional in Lincoln following a Big XII finals loss to Kansas this past weekend. Hope they make it to Omaha again and go farther than the past years. Just getting there isn't good enough any more. Got to cheer for them even harder since the football team isn't in the national title hunt recently. I have high hopes for them this year though after the finish they had last season.

Husker Baseball

Currently listening to the Huskers in the first game of the Big XII tourney. They are currently tied with Baylor 1-1 mid way through the game. Pretty good pitching from both teams so far. NU needs to get them bats working or it will be a very sad season for the boys in red.

If you think it is warm where you are currently, it might be worse if you were at the tourney. At 9:30 am (Mountain Time Zone) it was 87 degrees and humid according to the announcers. Whew, that doesn't sound comfy at all.

Speaking of not being comfy, saw on the news last night that CO will have a warmer than usual summer this year as well as a drought year in the metro area. I guess the only good news for me is that I have central air installed and I won't have to mow much either.

I Love To Whack It!

For those of you that don't know me, and for those of you that do, I must say that I really enjoy doing lots of whacking. I bought a new Weed Eater electric trimmer and edger (the Weed Eater brand, not the generic use of the term that people use like kleenex which should be referred to as facial tissues). It is the XT 112 model and I got it at Ace Hardware on sale for $19.99.

Holy crap, it is super powerful compared to the old Toro one I got from my parents when I moved into my house. That sucker couln't cut butter in the desert.

I am sure the novelty will wear off pretty quick since it is still yard work. But for now, I am just really happy to be able to whack it with so much power.

I'm Back!

Well it has been a short time but I am back.

I had a couple of days off and my brother and sis-in-law came out to Denver to see me. We did lots of stuff including going to the zoo, aquarium, and shopping. But the ultimate thing was seeing Rob Zombie in concert at the Fillmore. It was a pretty darn good time. However, the only beer (other than micro brews which cost more) was Miller Lite. Whoo, that shit is nasty.

Well it has been back to work after the extended weekend. We had lots of training. Very interesting stuff.......NOT!

Well, I had better get going but it is good to be back.
